The Hunger for Hunger Games..

I remember boarding on plane back to SG and reading its own published mag when one article caught my attention. It's about this not so popular young actress (for some) portraying a leading role in a film adaptation which is (of course!) The Hunger Games. I was first curious about the actress rather than the movie itself because this lady whose name is Jennifer Lawrence almost got the Bella role in Twilight saga (Anyway, let's give the credit to K. Stew who really gives justice to the character!!!)and also plays the young Raven/Mystique in the latest X men installation. Then I begun to do some minor background check about her and also with some leading characters in the flick. What excites me more when  I found out that Liam Hemsworth  (Miley C. beau) is also one of the main casts. I tell you I was more  interested with the characters than the movie (at first!). I never even heard nor read the book per se until I watched the trailer and read some good reviews about it that I started to ,well, be indulge in it.

I was able to view it on the big screen and I have to make some personal judgment which some of you  may agree or may not (well as I've said it's personal anyways..) At the beginning of the flick got a bit dizzy due to the rolling motion of the camera which I can't really have a clear view of the actual scene plus the fact that it started with a black and white scenery. Cinematography-wise there's a bit more to improve because others may conclude that it's just a low-cost budget film having a good story line. Since I haven't read the book I'm a bit lost in some events that were shown in the movie. But of course, just like other film adaptation I'm not really expecting that the movie will portray exactly alike what's written in the book (that's why they have script writers and editors!). On the brighter note, I got fascinated on how they integrate great fashion couture in the supposed to be action/love story film. I am not really a fan of pink, purple or let's say brighter hues but learned to appreciate it in the movie. Specifically, love the fire thingy entrance drama and the red blazing gown. And oh how I like their capitol! I wonder if in reality there's such a place similar to that, Warning: non-fashionistas are not allowed to enter!lol  With regards to the character, I am interested to discover more about Haymitch and Cinna since in the film they give much emphasis in the leading role portrayal.

Lastly, I have a good vibes that this movie will be the next big thing after the Twilight saga and Harry Potter series. With its $155million net record in the opening weekend , surely fans will be expecting more to the next sequel entitled Catching Fire, if there's any, not so sure yet. Hoping for much improve cinematography! Nevertheless, rated it as 8 out of 10...xoxo
